Grandaddy of Bass Pro Shops

We went to Springfield, MO, to the original Bass Pro Shops store which is the headquarters and The Grandaddy of All Outdoor Stores®. This store has a coffee shop, a restaurant, a snack bar, the National Archery Hall of Fame, the National Rifle Association Sporting Arms Museum, and the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium. As with the other Johnny Morris properties, the details were amazing. One wall looked like a mountain cliff with waterfalls and mountain sheep. The stairs up to the Sporting Arms museum was made with rifle replicas for spindles. There was a pond with alligators and there are seven acquariums

. We had lunch at Hemingway’s Blue Water Café but didn’t buy anything else. There were two separate groups trying to sell us vacations at Johnny Morris properties, no doubt leading to timeshare opportunities.
