There are plenty of trails along the Arkansas river and there is one Big Dam Bridge. This pedestrian/biking bridge joins the trails on the two sides of the river. The span is supported on top of the Lake Hamilton dam and is now a great recreation area. There is an annual bike ride using the name. At 4,226 feet (1288 m) in length it is the longest pedestrian/bicycle bridge in North America that has never been used by trains or motor vehicles. It rises to 90 feet (27 m) over the Arkansas River and 30 feet (9.1 m) over the dam. We managed a 5k walk across the bridge and back with some extra wandering.
